DieHard HORSE League Season 1

March 30, 2019: HORSE Final Won by Mike Twitchell, Michelle Owen and Jason Nadeau

Huge congrats for a successful first iteration of the Die Hard Horse League. It was a fun league that helped us play some different games for a change. The winners for this first year were Mike Twitchell ($1500 seat), Michelle Owen ($1500 seat) and Jason Nadeau ($500 seat). The chip lead changed a tonne with Jason Nadeau and Brent Senko dominating the tournament early but with levels going up both Brent and Jason would run cold and fall early at the final table. Deepak Bhasin took over a massive chiplead with 5 remaining but he too could not last. Mike Twitchell built up chips and while Michelle Owen had a stack most of the night it came down to one monster hand 3 handed which left both her and Kent Senko basically all in on Stud with Kent having a board of TJ/AQAJ/7 and Michelle holding xx/689 with flush and straight draws as Mike Twitchell happily watched. Michelle would come out on top completing one of her draws and Kent would be the bubble boy (Jason had won the league points leader guaranteed seat). Congrats everyone and good luck in Vegas.

League Money Commitments:

•       Each player pays $50 USD and $50 CAD per event with $50 CAD going to Event prize pool and $50 USD going to Overall WSOP package pool.

•       Members are also required to pay $100 USD for a deposit. This is two $50 USD fees for your last 2 events WSOP drops. If you decide not to show one event unannounced, your first prepaid WSOP drop will be used, but you will be required to pay it back at the next event. There is no other penalty for not showing up unannounced. Any players who drops from the league will receive no refund and is ineligible to receive any portion of winnings from WSOP cashes. No spares are allowed at all.

•       After your deposit is in, you'll need to bring $50 USD and $50 CAD to each tournament; $50 USD for the WSOP drop and $50 CAD for the cash tournament. If a player does not show to an event tournament, they are only responsible for the events $50 USD WSOP drop, they are NOT required to pay an additional $50 CAD for the events tournament fee. Should you attend all tournaments up until Event #4 and/or #5 and haven't used either of your deposit events, you will not need to make the WSOP drop for the event(s).

•       Note that this means for Event #1 you will need $150 USD and $50 CAD ($100 USD deposit, $50 USD WSOP drop and $50 CAD cash tourney entry).

•       We will provide one WSOP $1500 HORSE Package plus as many WSOP / ARIA / Venetian / Planet Hollywood Preliminary HORSE Event Packages as we have money for. We will vote on this as a league once we have finalized our numbers.

•       You will need to commit to $250 USD ($50 USD/event) over the year for the WSOP drop and $50 CAD per event additional that you show up.

•       Points:

•       It works like this for each event; we will have a tournament with cash prizes for top 15% and points awarded to top 15% league players. Final structure to be determined based upon final number of entries. For points, we will pay a MINIMUM of 10 SPOTS regardless of numbers.

•       NOTE – Everyone in League starts with $5,000 Chips at Final Table PLUS points accumulated during season.

•       Preliminary Points are awarded as follows...

•       1st:             10,000 points

•       2nd:            8,000

•       3rd:             6,500

•       4th:             5,000

•       5th:             4,000

•       6th:             3,000

•       7th:             2,500

•       8th:             2,000

•       9th:             1,500

•       10th:           1,000

League Final:

The league leader in points at the end of the 5 event season will be guaranteed at least a $500 US buy-in HORSE Preliminary Event Package no matter where that player finishes in the league final. If there is a tie for points for the league lead the tiebreakers will be as follows:

1.     Most points earned by yourself.

2.     Most money earned.

The league leader will also get the chance to play in the League Final in an attempt to win the WSOP HORSE Event Package or Preliminary Package of greater value than the guaranteed package.

The remainder of the prize packages will be determined in a league final tournament. Anyone who obtains points during the season qualifies for the league final. At the League Final, each player will receive 1 chip for each point they received during the regular season (Regular season and League Final tournament formats and blind schedules below). There will be no entry fee or prizes for the Final, except the Prize Packages.

The winners of the prize packages agree to split any monies won at the World Series Of Poker with the league. For league winners that win money in the WSOP, the first $5000 USD of the prize is kept by the league winner. The League will get 25% of any cash prize won at the World Series of Poker before taxes above $5000. In this way, the league will still be able to participate in any truly big wins, but the winner can reap higher rewards from min-cashes. The league share will be divided evenly among all players that have paid all of their league fees by the end of Event #5. If the league share is less than $20 per person, the league will keep the money to be added to the following seasons’ prize pool. Also, the league will round down to the nearest $10 increment per person and keep the extra as money to be added to the following seasons’ prize pool. Also, to be clear the league is only entitled to a portion of the cash prize received from the World Series of Poker. The player keeps 100% of any monies received from any endorsements they may receive from online sites, ESPN or otherwise due to participation in the event.

Regular Tournament Structure:
Each event, players will begin with 20,000 chips.

*Tentative Starting Chip Counts will be the following based upon Total Players Per event.

30+ Players = $20,000 Starting Stack

20+ Players = $30,000 Starting Stack

10+ Players = $40,000 Starting Stack

* We reserve the right to alter the starting chip stacks and Levels based upon final player turnout and speed of play.

SPECIAL NOTES

1) There will be no Spares allowed. You get 10,000 guaranteed chips for the Final already.

2) This is a ‘learning’ league. There will be NO ASSISTANCE once the points bubble is broken other than procedural help. We are trying to have fun and grow the game. We are playing for money so no collusion or outright coaching is allowed but there will be more leeway in the first levels of each event to explain to players or to help coach players AFTER a hand is played. It should be a fun learning environment before we get to the money.

3) If you do NOT want to agree to this standard, then do NOT join the league.

*All remaining rules will follow standard DieHard Rules and a final chip structure will be posted prior to Event #1.
