The Die Hard Poker Index (DHPI) is loosely based on the Global Poker Index to better rate the top players in the league. You get points based on a top 30% finish in an event with higher points for a higher finish. You then get a total for each of the past 3 years. Finishes from current year are worth full value, prior year is 75% and 2 years ago are only worth 50% of their values. This aging factor results in more weight being placed on more recent events in much the same way as the poker industry standard Global Poker Index (GPI) does.

The end result should be a good indication of who the best players in the league have been over the last 3 years.

Look who’s back on top! Darren Kennedy that’s who! I’m ecstatic to have been one of the 4 players to win a Main Event seat along with Andy Goosen, John Clark and Spiro Pegios. Not surprisingly we all got large points for the finish. I moved back from 2^nd into 1^st ahead of Zach who also got some points for his 18^th place finish. Spiro jumpy from 69^th to 46^th. Andy Goosen stayed in 3^rd but closed the gap between himself and Zach. John Clark moved 44^th to 28^th.

March 22, 2026

Well that sucks!! I lasted one week at the top before Zach Nicholls took back his rightful spot on the throne. He did it with a min cash though so I can repass him at the final with a good showing. Eric Ruttan moved up 5 spots to #10, Jeremy Skinner moved from 19 to 11 and Johhny Dai up from 16 to 12 pushing Faisal Al Qutub down from 10 to 13. Tosca moved from 23 to 15 with a third place finish. Chris McDonell with the win moved 55 to 37 and Issa Shaw moved from 92 to 67 with a second. Johnny Dai finished 5^th in the final and that helped him enter the top 10 moving from 12^th to 7^th position. Jemery Skinner’s 10^th place finish also moved him into the top 10 from 11^th to 9^th.

I have been waiting for this day since the creation of the Die Hard Poker Index more than 7 years ago and with my big outright, no-chop win in the $500 Mystery Bounty I have finally and officially moved into the top spot in the Die Hard Poker Index!!!!! Darren Kennedy is Numero Uno! This year has been amazing for me at Die Hard. We have some other movers and shakers this week with Trevor Massey moving 8^th to 5^th, Faisal Al Qutub moving from 15^th to 10^th, Pat Woelk 29^th to 13^th and Evan Horton 24^th to 14^th.

Big win for Bradley Johnson who moves into relevance on the chart moving from 263^rd (unranked) to 107^th on the charts. Andrew and Kelli Krywnaiuk both bumped up with Andrew moving from 6^th to 4^th and Kelli from 21^st to 14^th. Johnny Dai’s 2^nd place finish bumped him up from 20^th to 12^th and Roger Grosset cracked into the top 10 once again with a solid finish going from 11^th into the 9^th spot. Henry Oh dropped out of the coveted top 10 falling one spot into 11^th.

February 24, 2026

Feels like Déjà vu. Zach Nicholls with a win to extend his hammerlock on the DHPI Index. The top 10 remained the same but some movement inside the top 10 saw Andy Goosen jump from 6^th to 3^rd, Paul Anaka jump 9 to 7 and Trevor Massey move from 10^th to 8^th, with lost of players slipping one spot. Ish Francis moves 31^st to 19^th and Dylan Ruocco moved 39^th to 22^nd.

January 25, 2026

Darren Kennedy closed the gap big time on Zach Nicholls leaving only 31 points between first and second. The top 5 remained the top 5 with no changes. Huge move by Christina Armstrong who final tabled both events to move from 30^th to 13^th spot. Cindy Chen also cashed twice and moved into the top 10 from 14^th to 7^th spot. Kelli Krywaniuk moved 33^rd to 19^th. Jesse Forsters runner up on Friday moved him 37^th to 23^rd and Kelly Lange’s third place moved him from 39^th to 27^th.

November 9, 2025

Darren Kennedy chopped Event #5 with Roman Pereyaslavsky bringing some big time points and moving me up from 3^rd to 2^nd. Still not within striking distance of Zach as another out right win gets me 75 points and Zach is 78 points ahead of me, but the gap is closing. Everett Wicklund won Event #6 on Satruday and moved from 6^th to 3^rd position. Faisal continues his climb with a 3^rd in Event #5 and have moved from 33^rd to 14^th to 8^th in successive updates. Very impressive. Paul Deol and Jeremy Skinner slip out of the top 10 and Henry Oh moves 16^th to 10^th thanks to a cash in Event #5. Christina moved 54^th to 30^th thanks to a 4^th place finish in TORSE.

Faisal Al Qutub won the Event 4 and made a dramatic move from 33^rd to 14^th in the Index. Our overall DHPI leader final tabled and thus extended his stranglehold on top of the Die Hard Poker Index. Zach’s 6^th point finish makes it hard for anyone to even think about catching him. Darren (that’s me) just reached his highest point on the index moving up 3 spots to the #3 position with a strong showing on Saturday. Paul Deol moves 13^th to 8^th knocking Cindy Chen out of the top 10. Sean Cardoso cracks the top 100 moving 115^th to 90^th.

October 22, 2025

Two events over the weekend brought some changes to the DHPI. No change at the top as Zach maintains his dominance over the Die Hard League. Andrew Krywaniuk made a big jump from 8^th to 4^th and his wife Kelli also had a good weekend moving 35^th to 20^th. Some great results from Jeff Hall (83^rd to 27^th), Evan Horton (36^th to 16^th) and Jim Prime (44^th to 23^rd) resulted in big moves. Trevor Massey sneaks into the top 10 moving 11^th to 9^th at the expense of Paul Deol who slips out. As for the top 100, long time DHPLers Scott Brynen and Ivan Mahood jumped back into the top 100 with solid weekends, while relative newcomers Corey Chan, Reza Yazdani, Jason Livingston and Mike Yost also made their way into the top 100.

September 21, 2025

Start of a new season always brings changes as 3 years ages results drop off and weighting changes on the other 2 years. This time is no different. Zach stays at number one but he now has a commanding 107 point lead over second as everyone else had points drop off while his results were all from the past two years only. 3 players fell out of the top 10 as Johnny, Roger and Trevor slip. Johnny’s fall was most significant dropping 9 spots 3^rd to 12^th. Some sizable jumps forward saw Darren go from 9^th to 4^th, Jeremy and Cindy both jumped 9 spots to sneak into 9^th/10^th respectively. Lots of people dropped but Mike Honeyman significantly fell from 74^th to 108^th. First time he is slipped outside the top 100 and many wonder what has happened to this player as his results continue to suffer.

April 12, 2025

Changes abound as the League Final completed this week. This event has the most available DHPI points so it can cause a lot of affects on the Index. Zach Nicholls won a Main Event seat and the resulting points took him to first overall. Zach becomes the first person in Die Hard history to hold the #1 spot while only having played in two seasons. Impressive stuff. Everett Wicklund also won an ME seat and he jumped 16^th to 10^th. Chris Watts was the other winner and his efforts moved him from 31^st to 17^th in the standings.

The End of the year top 10 were: Zach Nicholls, Paul Anaka, Johhny Dai, Brad Wilson, Andy Goosen, Paul Deol, Trevor Massey, Roger Grosset, Darren Kennedy and Everett Wicklund.

With a new season coming Paul Anaka and Johnny will be affected the most when their 300+ points from 2023 drop off in September. Zach Nicholls didn’t play that year so he will solidify his spot up top.

March 31, 2025

Considering how many points were up for grabs it was surprising that no one jumped into the top 10. Chris Watson made the closest attempt going 18^th to 12^th. Kelly Lange went 30^th to 18^th with the win. Brent Senko went 37^th to 26^th and Harry Aujla jumped from 42^nd to 29^th.

March 16, 2025

Paul Anaka takes over top spot in DHPI. Johnny Dai moves 5^th to 3^rd, Paul Deol jumps from 8^th to 6^th and Doug Cornelson enters the top 10 jumping up from #14 spot. Ryna Fountain and Chris Potter enter the top 100 for the first time as well as we had some good movement in the index this week. With a $300 Mystery Bounty and the League Final upcoming there is likely to be some real shakeups on the horizon.

While no one new entered the top 10 after Event #9 we did have a change at the top with Brad Wilson overtaking Paul Anaka for the lead. Zch Nichols jumped from 5 to 3 and Andy Goosen and Trevor Massey tightened things up at the top.

After the doubleheader weekend we see a return to #1 by Paul Anaka with Brad Wilson moving to the #2 spot and Roger Grosset falling to #3. Chris Watson’s win moved him from 23^rd to 14^th and Jesse Forster jumped from 18^th to 11^th. Chris Searles jumped from 110^th to 76^th and Eric Weber moved from 115^th to 79^th. And the last notable jump was Adi Aggarwal who moved from 120^th to 84th

Johnny Poker moves from 4^th to 2^nd, Paul Deol with the win moves from 7^th to 4^th and Trevor Massey with another good showing moves from 9^th to 7^th. But the top 10 remains the top 10. Entering the top 100 are Iven Chen 101 – 76^th, Bob Lisle 100-90^th, Chris Searles 110-93^rd, Don Krekoski 123-94^th and Johanne Glyn Jones 119-99^th.

Very little changed after Event #5 with the only movement in the top 10 comes from myself Darren switching with Paul Deol in the 7/8 spots. In the top 20 though we had 3 players move into the top 20 with good finishes from Dave Sims, Andrew Krywaniuk and Cindy Chen. And in another shocker not one person cracked the top 100 as the top 100 players remained the same.

November 8, 2024

With 2 tourneys on the same weekend it didn’t take long for a new king to emerge as Roger Grosset’s 2^nd and 5^th place finishes propelled him way above Paul Anaka to move into first place on the DHPI. Zach Nicholls first place finish on Saturday moved him into the top 10 going 13^th to 6^th. Trevor Massey also cracked the top 10 moving 16^th to 9^th. Shawn Lange moved from 27^th to 13^th with the Friday win as he also threatens to sneak into the top 10. Chris Nishi, Juno Lau and Al Leung were the 3 players to get into the top 100 this update.

October 21, 2024

A new king on top as Paul Anaka cashes in the $300 TORSE and the top 2 players weren’t there to accumulate points. Johnny Dai and Andy Goosen were also passed by Brad Wilson and Roger Grosset meaning they dropped to 4^th and 5^th respectively. Deepak Bhasin made a big move from 43^rd to 26^th with a second place finish in the TORSE and Joey Blake moved from unranked to 8^th by winning the event.

September 29, 2024

With Andy Goosen finishing first and Danny Bajaj second in Event #2 its no surprise that they are the 2 most prominent jumps on the index this week. Andy moves 7^th to 2^nd and sits only 2 points behind Johhny Dai for the coveted first place position. Danny moved 20^th to 12^th and is knocking on the door of the prestigious top 10. Other notables were Roger moving two spots up to be in the 3 hole and Colton Kroeker with a solid finish to crack the top 100 for the first time moving 110^th to 88^th.

September 15, 2024

Another season has begun which means changes in Die Hard Poker Index ratings as the 2021-22 season falls off and we start getting 2024-25 results. There was some definite movement amongst the top 10 but Johnny Poker maintained his lead with a stellar 9^th placing in Event #1. Andy Goosen goes 14^th to 7 to crack the top 10 for the first time and Brant Taylor falls 9^th to 15^th as the only player to drop out of the top 10 this week.

April 16, 2024

After the $300 Mystery Bounty Event and the League Final we wrap up this season Die Hard Poker Index. Johnny Dai stays in the #1 spot. Brant Taylor and Brad Wilson who won the last two events respectively, both move into the top 10 at the expense of Dave Sims and Dave Collier. The big movers were Zach Nicholls from 41^st to 27^th and Danny Bajaj from 49^th to 31^st. Once the 2022 season drops off and we move into 2025, it looks like it will be Paul Anaka (380) moving into the top spot, Brad Wilson (379) in #2 and Johnny Dai (375) will slip to #3

March 4, 2024

After Event #10 we have a little movement up top as Roger Grosset took over the number 2 spot from Pat Woelk. Paul Deol moved up from 9^th to 5th. Dave Collier jumped back into the top 10 at the expense of Jesse Forster who fell 10 to 11^th. Further down the table the inevitable ascent from Andy Goosen continues as he jumps from 23^rd to 16^th on the back of a second place finish in Event #10. Zach Nicholls moved 53^rd to 41t with a 3^rd in Event #10 and Danny Bajaj jumped from 73^rd to 49^th with his win.

February 21, 2024

After Event #8 and 9 were completed this past weekend we had no changes in the top 5, but we did see some movement as Ty Duong moved from 10^th to 7^th, Brad Wilson made a significant move from 23^rd to 10^th on the strength of an Event #9 win. Brnet Senko cracked top 50 moving 70^th to 50^th and Zach Nicholls moved up 25 spots from 78^th to 53^rd which is all the more incredible as its on one year totals only. Also 3 players cracked the top 100 for the first time as Piers Wylie (132^nd to 86^th), Kate Mitevska (101^st to 91^st) and Evan Horton (113^th to 97^th) all made their mark on the Die Hard Poker Index.

January 30, 2024

After Event #7 No major changes amongst the top but Johnny Dai did extend his position at the top. Ty Duong sneaks into the top 10 at the expense of Dave Collier who slipped two spots from 9 to 11. Doug Cornelson jumped 11 spots from 40 to 29, Andy Goosen continues his climb moving into top 20 from 23^rd spot. And Evertt Wicklund firms up his hold in the top 10 with a move from 10^th to 7^th.

January 5, 2024

After Event #6 Johnny Dai reclaims the top spot over Pat Woelk with a 15^th place finish. Both Roger and Darren showed their stuff and move up one spot each to 3^rd and 4^th respectively as well. Everett Wicklund’s 2^nd place finish in Event 6 moved him into the top 10 as well. The biggest jump of the week goes to Mike Mittermuller who moved from 49^th to 31^st on the back of an outright win. And the player of the season so far remains Andy Goosen who moved fro m31st to 21^st with another final table, this time a 6^th place finish.

November 18, 2023

After Event #5 there was more movement. Paul Anaka moved 5^th to 3^rd, Darren Kennedy 7^th to 5^th and Paul Deol 9^th to 7^th. Chris Watson moved up 15^th to 11^th and although he didn’t catch Pat, Johnny did close the gap enormously by picking up 40 DHPI points to get within 24 points of the lead.

November 9, 2023

After Event #4 we had a bit of movement inside the top 10 with Paul Anaka jumping 9^th to 5^th thanks to his win. Darren Kennedy’s 5^th place finished bumped him 8^th to 7^th as well. No one slipped out of the top 10 though as Brant Taylor maintains a slim one point lead over Jeff Hall. Other significant movement saw Chris Watson move 21^st to 15^th, Brad Wilson 24^th to 18^th and Nik Mitevski 42^nd to 29^th. Another event in 9 days from now may shake things up at the top again.

October 30, 2023

One new entry in to the top 10 as Paul Anaka moves 11^th to 9^th and Jeff Hall swaps with him falling out. Mino reshuffling inside the top 10 but nothing at the top though Pat does extend his league significantly with a 6^th place finish last week. Cindy Chen’s win moved her from 56 to 30^th. Chris Latourelle moved 88^th to 61^st and Henry Oh moved 59th to 43rd. Next event is coming up in 4 days time.

October 14, 2023

A change at the top. Pat Woelk takes over the first place position with a solid 4^th place finish in Event 2. Roger moves 5 to 3 and Darren moves 9 to 6. Jeff Hall only new player into the top 10 moving 11 to 9. Tosca was the one falling out going from 8 to 13. Andrew Creeds first place jumped him 180^th to 84thOther greater than 10 position jumps are: Kelli Cera 41 to 30, Harry 58 to 47, Travis 70 to 54, Jeremy 73 to 57 and Christina 71 to 58, Kate to 107 to 89.

September 17, 2023

After Event 1 we had some changes. Note that all Events from 2020 season drop off and last years results move to 75% value and 2 years ago to 50% value. As such we saw some movement. Darren Kennedy moves into the top 10 into the 9 spot from 17. Trevor Massey continues his accent moving 23^rd to 13^th and with the win Jeff Hall moves up to 11^th from 19^th. At the very top Johhny maintained first place and Pat Woelk jumped over Dave Collier resulting in 2^nd/3^rd switching spots.

August 30, 2023

After Summer Events and League Final I have updated the DHPI again. Johhny held onto top spot and Dave Collier held onto 2^nd. Pat and Jesse switched spots at 3 and 4. Tosca moved into top 10 going 12^th to 8^th thanks to a great showing at the Mystery Bounty tourney. Chris Watson also in top 10 with 13^th to 10^th. Other significant moves due mostly to Legue final included Trevor Massey (51-23), Jim Prime (43-22) and Brad Wilson (74-50)

March 13, 2023

After Event #10, Johnny Dai solidifies his grip on the top spot with 5^th place showing. With all new players coming in 1^st-4^th in the last event there was not as much significant movement down the charts. We look forward to the upcoming League Final to see what effect that will have on the standings.

After Event #7, Jesse Forster took over the DHPI lead and held it for just one week before Dave Collier passed him again on Event #8. Johhny Dai however passed them both by winning Event #8 and is now our current DHPI leader.

Jess Forster takes over first place in the DHPI with a first place in Event #6 and a 23^rd in Event #5. Roger Grosset jumps 7^th to 4^th with a 7^th and 4^th place showing and Shanw Lange jumps from 18th to 12^th.

I haven’t had time to updated this until now but with 4 events under our belts it was time. With the 2019 season no longer affecting the DHPI you can see lots of changes.

Dave Collier maintains the pole position with some solid showings this year.

Rising: Johnny Dai moves 5^th to 2^nd. Brant Taylor makes a big jump from 12 to 4 spot and Dave Sim and Michelle Owen also make the jump into the top 10 from 22 to 8 and 13 to 6 respectively.

Falling: Roger Grosset falls 2^nd to 7^th, Pat Woelk 3^rd to 9^th, Everett Wicklund from 4^th to 23^rd, Paul Deol 8^th to 14^th and Tosca Lueks 10^th to 15^th.

Newcomers: Making his presence known early is Paul Anaka with an astounding 160 points in his first 4 events moving him up to 45^th place

April 15, 2022

The League final came and with it some big changes. Johhny’s win catapulted him up to 5^th in the DHPI. Dave Collier’s second place extended his grip on first that had been shrinking. Also good finishes from Brant and Alyssa strengthened their positions.

April 2, 2022

Event 10 saw some changes among the leaders with Pat Woelk moving from 3^rd to 2^nd and Everett Wicklund moving from 5^th to 3^rd. Dave Collier maintained his lead at the top, but when the season rolls over he will definitely be seeing a drop. Other moves saw Shawn Lange crack the top 10 moving 11thto 10^th. Darren Kennedy made a jump from 19^th to 14^th. Dave Brunham moved from 59^th to 40^th and Robin Scorry moved from 99^th to 67^th with the big win. I will say again that while this ranking system is far from perfect, I really do think it captures quite well a good overview of which players have performed the best in the last 3 years. Really like this system.

March 26, 2022

Event 9 saw no changes in the top 5 with both Dave (29) and Roger (25) gaining any points and putting some distance between 3^rd-5^th. Everett also gained points and is a virtual tied for 3^rd now with Pat and Paul. Dan Cassidy made a huge jump from 12^th to 6^th to crack the top 10. Jesse Forster also made it into the top 10 moving 13^th to 9^th. Other big moves included Darren going 28^th to 19^th and Guy Bottin moving 84^th to 56^th.

Roger jumps from 4^th to 2^nd and the race for first is on with the top 4 all within a win of taking over first spot. Elsewhere Mike Honeyman with the win jumps from 19^th to 10^th and Shawn Lange also cracks the top 10 moving from 12^th to 9^th.

Feb 27, 2022

Not much change at the top as Dan Cassidy wins and moves from 26^th to 14^th. Mike Twitchell cracks the top 100 moving from 11^th to 8^th and Johnny slips out of the top 10 moving 9^th to 11^th.

February 20, 2022

Dave Collier holds onto top spot with a still commanding lead. Some small movements at the top as Paul moves 3^rd to 2^nd, Roger 5^th to 4^th and Pat moves 8^th to 5^th. Johnny cracks into the top 10 with his 5^th place finish and the biggest moves were Dave Sims jumping 66^th to 32^nd.

The DHPI returns and Dave Collier remains on top after a couple of top 2 finishes this year already. Big Jumps by Everett (9 to 2) and Paul (10 to 3) to enter the top 3 and other large jumps further down the rankings include Pat (45 to 8), Michelle (39 to 10) and Kal (46 to 13). ON the other side of the coin both Brant (2 to 17) and Rik (3 to 16) were the big droppers so far.

February 9, 2020

Event #8 has Brant Taylor reclaiming the #1 position with Dave Collier slipping to second place. Also with back to back third place finishes by Rik Rohrback in Events #7 and 8 he has jumped 10 spots from 13^th to 3^rd in the rankings. Chris Nishi also slides into the top 10 with a move from 14^th to 10^th. Kelli Cera and Jordan Kroeker slide down out of the top 10 into 13^th and 14^th resepectively.

Event #6 resulted in a new #1 as Dave Collier finished 2^nd and even though first place Brant Taylor finished 17^th and added to his DHPI total, the 60 points obtained by Collier was enough to take over first place.

Event #5 resulted in no changes in the top 3, but lots of movement between 4^th and 16^th. Johnny Dai with the win moved from 39^th to 15^th, Everett passed Alyssa into 4^th and Kelli jumped 4 spots from 10^th to 6^th. And no Mike Honeyman you haven’t passed me yet… keep trying.

For a little extra fun I have added a Die Hard Poker Index which is loosely based on the Global Poker Index to better rate the top players in the league. You get points based on a top 30% finish in an event with higher points for a higher finish. You then get a total for each of the past 3 years. Finishes from 2017 are only worth 50% of their values, finishes in 2018 are worth 75% of their values and finishes in 2019 are worth 100%. This aging factor results in more weight being placed on more recent events in much the same way as the poker industry standard Global Poker Index (GPI) does.

Hopefully you enjoy yet another fun stat to look at and congrats to Brant Taylor who is the current DHPI #1! Brant is closely followed by Chris Fraser who is only 2 points behind him. Players that are new to the league but off to good starts like Dave Collier will find it hard to take over the #1 spot until they withstand the test of time. But at #13 he is doing just fine. Likewise players such as Jordan Kroeker and Georg Jancev have shown that even short durations can move them up the DHPI list.
